A filmmaking workshop that empowered youth to use their digital tools to explore and create stories from their communities (2010–2024)
The Videointeratividade methodology emerged from a core question: how can we empower young people to become not just critical spectators but also storytellers of their world?
With the support of multiple partners along more than a decade, the workshop brought filmmaking into public schools, reaching over 1,000 young people and 200 educators through a hands-on, exploratory approach. Along the project’s history, more than 150 short films were produced.
The pedagogical approach was designed to encourage community engagement and critical and creative audiovisual consumption. Key aspects of the methodology included the protagonism of young people in creating the script and editing the film, as well as the use of tools they already possessed in their school routines.

A poetic-pedagogical journey towards authorship for young public school students (2013–2016)
Inspired by Mário de Andrade’s book, Turista Aprendiz is a poetic-pedagogical journey for high school students.
Combining ethnographic work, creative writing, and commoning experience, the project was held within the Favela Criativa Program offering 100 young Brazilians from low-socioeconomic backgrounds a possibility to expand their worldview and become authors of their stories.
Workshops involved readings by travelers, chroniclers, poets, ethnographers and local writers with immersions into diverse territories – from inner-city neighborhoods to remote villages in the state of Rio, and later on around several Brazilian states The travels were made possible by co-creating with local partners who hosted the groups and let the students into their universe.
The experience culminated in several performances, publications, participation in major Brazilian literary events – such as the Rio Book Biennial and the Festa Literária de Paraty – and launched some of the students in the literature scene.

Training young cultural mediators to bridge independent cinema and underserved communities in Rio (2006–2010)
An audience building project for marginalized cinema that I had the chance to develop in Rio de Janeiro by partnering with Brazucah Produções. Over four years, we trained 200 students to become cultural mediators between independent films and local communities. Through debates, guerrilla marketing, educational materials, and pre-screenings, we supported the release campaign of more than 30 feature films.
When the Rio network separated from its São Paulo base, I founded Praga Conexões to continue this mission with a stronger focus on social and educational impact. The Praga Collective promoted politically engaged cinema such as They Killed Sister Dorothy and The Wave, and laid the groundwork for future participatory media education.

A cultural learning program where students explored and documented their city through guided journeys (2009–2015)
Created by the Rio State Department of Education to enrich pedagogical possibilities in public schools located in low-HDI regions, Jovens Turistas offered “journeys of knowledge” accompanied by media-production workshops.
During the annual editions between 2009 and 2015, more than 2,000 students and educators experienced cross- and interdisciplinary field trips across Rio de Janeiro and visited – most of them for the first time – classic tourist sites of the city.
This project involved significant contributions from interns studying tourism and media in Rio’s public schools, supporting the beginning of their professional careers.

Workshops and installations inviting peripheral youth to reimagine their authorship in digital culture (2011)
Developed alongside Marina Vieira, Fabio Maleronka and Rodrigo Savazoni for the CulturaDigital.BR Festival, Mosaicos invited youth from marginalized territories to engage critically with digital culture.
Through workshops held in multiple SESC venues in Rio de Janeiro, participants explored co-creation, remix, sharing, and the notion of the viewer/public as a producer/author.
The project culminated in an interactive audiovisual installation in which stories could be created directly by the festival participants.

A film screening bridging Nigerian cinema with Brazilian audiences while exploring alternative models of film production and distribution (2011)
As a direct outcome of my master’s research where I observed modes of distribution and consumption of national cinemas globally, this event introduced Brazilian audiences to Nollywood, the vibrant Nigerian film industry, known for its massive film production and innovative way of promotion.
Hosted at Caixa Cultural RJ, Mostra Nollywood combined film screenings with critical debate conducted by great Nigerian filmmakers to rethink how and for whom we make cinema.
While selecting filmmakers in Lagos, I came across the Brazilian Quarter and heard for the first time the stories of Afro-Brazilian returnees: a moment that would later inspire the documentary series Returnees.
